Tory is favourite to topple ex-minister in Harrow East MP

BOOKIES believe Tony McNulty will lose his seat at next year's General Election but colleague Gareth Thomas will remain in the House of Commons.
High street chains Paddy Power and William Hill are giving punters odds of 2-5 that Tory candidate for Harrow East, Bob Blackman, will topple Tony McNulty.

The shorter price means the bookmaker believes is Mr Blackman more likely to triumph over former government minister McNulty, who is 7-4 to win with both companies.
The Liberal Democrat candidate, who is yet to be announced, is 50-1 to take the constituency.
People wishing to put a punt on politics at Paddy Power can get odds of 4-7 for Labour's Gareth Thomas, minister for international development and Harrow West MP, to remain in the job.
Rival Dr Rachel Joyce, the Conservative candidate, comes in at 5-4 and the Liberal Democrats are again the rank outsider with Chris Noyce, the leader of the Liberal Democrats on Harrow Council, at an even longer price of 66-1.
At William Hill, Labour are 8-13, Conservative 6-5 and Liberal Democrat 66-1 in Harrow West.
Reflecting on his position as bookies' favourite to take Harrow East, Mr Blackman said: "I think people are looking at the national opinion polls and at the fact that the Labour Party is unpopular and the Conservative Party is increasingly popular.
"I have been campaigning solidly for the last three years to get my name known and it's good news that bookies recognise that.
"That said, such a short-priced favourite is not the way to make money!"
