Residents-only parking coming to Headstone South?
A residents-only parking scheme could be introduced to Harrow's 'county roads' area if councillors throw their weight behind the idea tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
If brought in, vehicles will only be able to park on designated streets between 11am and 12noon if a paid-for permit is displayed, in a bid to prevent non-resident motorists - especially commuters using North Harrow Tube station - from dumping their cars there all day.
Harrow Council's traffic and road safety advisory panel is being asked to recommend to Councillor Susan Hall (Conservative), portfolio holder for environmental and community safety, that the scheme be taken forward, even though a 96-name petition has been submitted to the authority calling on it to disregard the proposal.
The affected roads, in the ward of Headstone South, include Devonshire Road, Dorset Road, Oxford Road, and parts of Pinner Road, Sussex Road, Rutland Road, Bedford Road, Pinner View and Neptune Road.
The traffic and road safety advisory panel is due to meet at Harrow Civic Centre, Station Road Harrow, at 7.30pm.
