A music fan's dreams of seeing her idol live have been dashed by a dodgy website.

Diane Carter was expecting to spend Sunday night watching George Michael at the Earl's Court Arena, having bought tickets on the SOS Master Tickets website.

But the 41-year-old, of Walton Avenue, South Harrow, discovered last month the company had disappeared - along with her money and tickets.

The safer gardening project is seeking equipment to tame pensioners' gardens in a bid to cut crime.

Chairman of the Harrow Crime Prevention Panel Ross Simpson said: "We found that burglars target overgrown gardens, so we work with Age Concern to maintain their gardens."

Any gardening equipment is welcome from trimmers to mowers. For more information call Ross Simpson on 020 8424 0203.

Train fall man injured head

A man was left hospitalised after falling under a train at a busy Underground station.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "BTP can confirm that a 60-year-old man from Ruislip was taken to Northwick Park Hospital on Saturday (16) evening after he fell under a Piccadilly Line train at Rayners Lane LU station.

Fire ravages pub

Squatters were feared to have been trapped in an "inferno" that broke out in a vacant pub in South Harrow this morning (Friday).

The blaze has destroyed the inside of The Matrix in Alexandra Avenue that closed several months ago, and the junction of Eastcote Lane and Alexandra Avenue remains closed off.

A 55-year-old South Harrow man appeared before magistrates yesterday (Thursday) accused of two counts of sexually assaulting a boy under the age of 13 by touching.

Keith Clack, of Coles Crescent, had a first hearing at Harrow Magistrates' Court, Rosslyn Crescent, Harrow.

He is due to appear again at the court on September 18 for committal to crown court.

Environmentally friendly house builder ZED Homes has won permission for a new HQ in South Harrow, despite residents' objections.

The firm, based in Lyon Road, Harrow, will construct its offices in Roxeth Green Avenue, on land previous occupied by a car repair and MOT garage in the shadow of the Biro House development.

Barclays has teamed up with the Harrow Observer Series to give a local charity the opportunity to win cash to help it fullfil its dreams.

It is offering a first prize of s1,000 and two runner up prizes of s500 in the 2008 Let's Do It community awards.
